Position: Dental Hygienist

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and a commitment to promoting oral health. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a crucial role in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases and conditions, contributing to the overall health and well-being of our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:

    • Perform dental prophylaxis, including scaling, root planing, and polishing.
    • Apply preventive materials such as sealants and fluorides to the teeth.
    • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and plaque control.
    • Conduct oral cancer screenings.
    • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
  • Clinical Procedures:

    • Record and review medical and dental histories.
    • Assist in the diagnosis and treatment planning of dental conditions.
    • Administer local anesthetics to patients as required.
    • Perform scaling and root planing for periodontal disease management.
    • Provide adjunctive therapy, such as irrigation with antimicrobial agents.
  • Patient Interaction:

    • Build rapport with patients to make them feel comfortable and at ease during their appointments.
    • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their treatment and home care instructions.
    • Address patient concerns and answer questions related to oral health.
  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Adhere to all infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including those set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
    • Stay updated with current dental practices and advancements through continuing education.
  • Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records of treatments and observations.
    • Document patient progress and changes in oral health status.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with dentists and other dental professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of patient treatment plans.
Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited dental hygiene program.
  • Licensure: Valid dental hygienist license in the state of TX.
  • Certifications: Current CPR certification.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a dental hygienist is preferred but not required for entry-level positions.
Skills:

  • Proficiency in dental hygiene procedures and use of dental instruments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to educate and motivate patients regarding oral health.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Competency in taking and interpreting dental radiographs.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with hands.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to handle dental instruments.
  • Ability to manage patients of various ages and conditions with care and empathy.

Compensation: $43.00 - $48.00 per hour
